E3 2017 has been a racers dream!

So if you’re into your gaming, your probably more than aware that this week is E3, where a bunch of new titles are announced as well as new hardware! We’re not hugely into gaming, but we do like to keep updated with E3 to see what new racing games are released as that’s pretty much all we play and this year we’ve been spoilt! So here’s a round up of the games and trailers released!

1. Forza Motorsport 7

The Forza franchise is back again with its 7th instalment of Forza Motorsport 7. The new game is going to be released on Xbox One and the new Xbox One X where it will run at 4k 60FPS which will no doubt be a treat! One thing we did pick up on in the trailer was the little details. The windsreen wipers literally bounce up and down on the screen from the wind resistance!

2. Need For Speed Payback

Yep, it was announced a few weeks back, but we were treated to a gameplay trailer of the latest instalment of Need For Speed. This one is called ‘Payback’ and looks to be a little more story based than previous titles. The previous Need For Speed game left a lot to be desired in my own opinion, lets hope the latest one keeps us entertained for more than a weekend!

3. The Crew 2

Probably one of the most ‘Marmite’ racing games to be released in the last few years, The Crew has announced a second instalment of the game. Players of the first game we’re left a little disappointed with the handling physics of the game (as well as all the bugs), us included! In fact, I played the beta version and it ultimately made me decide not to buy it! But since then, devs have worked on improving the game and generally it does now have a pretty good following. The second game is again based in the USA, but now you can pilot planes and captain boats! Now this should be interesting. We’ve signed up for early access beta so lets hope it can redeem itself and win back the haters!

4. Gran Turismo Sport

Gran Turismo has been out of the scene for a while now, but they’re back with Gran Turismo Sport, being Xbox players, it doesn’t really excite me. But lets face it, you PS4 guys need a decent racing game so lets hope it brings something good and unique to the table!

5. Project Cars 2

Again, Project Cars has been one of those games that is love or hate. Having bought the first instalment on it’s Xbox One release, it was good. But the super ‘unique’ handling on the game ended up completely killing it off for me and it sat gathering dust on the shelf ever since. The fact that you either got round the corner or spun out was incredibly frustrating, it was nearly impossible to correct yourself mid corner. Project Cars 2 might be one of those games that we wait for a few months before purchasing to see if it’s worth the buy.

So there we have it. Five new racing games due out over the next year to bankrupt us car people and keep us occupied over winter. What are you most looking forward to? For me it has to be The Crew 2, it’s got potential to be something completely unique, and forgiving it’s horrible handling first time round, I do miss being able to go on a chilled out cruise of America!
